FAQs

How many people can you cater for? 
Up to 500 people.

How far in advance do I need to place my order? 
We recommend placing your order at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee your desired selections. However, we can accommodate last minute requests. Our website allows you to do 12 hours in advance, if you are placing an order less than 12 hours in advance, please email us at catering@slatecafe.com.

Are there discounts for repeat ordering? 
Not at this time.

When are catering deliveries available? 
7 days a week - 7am - 7pm.

Where do you deliver?
We deliver anywhere in Manhattan, Brooklyn or Queens seven days a week. Please note there is a $50 delivery fee for locations south of Houston and a $75 fee for outer boroughs. Please allow for a 15 minute delivery window. Minimum order for delivery is $200 (subtotal). There is no minimum for pick up order.

Can I pickup my catering order at one of the Slate locations? 
Yes, catering orders can be picked up at our Midtown location.

Can alcohol be ordered with the catered food? 
Not at this time.

What is Slate Cafe doing to minimize waste in catering orders?
We are always looking for ways to lessen our environmental impact. We minimize the use of plastic with eco-friendly trays, plates, napkins. We receive fresh deliveries 7 days a week, which helps us to cut down on food waste. We order just what we need for the day, no freezers! This results in us rarely needing to throw food away.

Is there a minimum order spend for catering? 
Catering orders have a $200 minimum subtotal for delivery. However, there is no minimum spend for pickup catering orders.

Can I order for individually plated options or do they only come platter style?
We have both individually plated and platter options available for catering orders.

What dietary restrictions can be accommodated for catering orders? 
Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten Free, Nut Free, Soy Free.

What is your cancellation/alteration policy?
Catering orders must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to scheduled delivery or pick-up times to receive a refund. avoid a cancellation fee. Otherwise, all sales are final. We will do our best to accommodate changes, but cannot guarantee changes if requested within 24 hours.

Can recurring catering orders be setup?
Yes, email catering@slatecafe.com and our team can help set this up. 

Do catering orders include plates, utensils, etc?
Yes.

How are catering orders packaged? 
All catering orders are packages in paper trays or paper bowls with plastic lids.

Will the delivery person help set up/unwrap my catering order when it's delivered? 
Yes.

When do I pay?
Payment is due in full at the time of order. All orders are subject to a 12.5% administrative fee which covers delivery, setup, and disposables. Plates, napkins, cups, utensils, and serving-ware will be supplied with each order unless otherwise requested.

How do I pay for my catering order?
We accept all major credit cards.

Is there a recommended amount for gratuity? 
This is at the customers' discretion, but most customers choose to add 18-20% gratuity onto their order.

Do I give gratuity to the delivery person or when I place my order?
Gratuity can be added when placing your catering order.

Do you offer tax exemption for tax exempt organizations?
Yes. Please email catering@slatecafe.com if you have any questions.
